West Point Trail Grant
West Point Recreational Trails Program (RTP) Grant Application
Posted on 04/25/2024
The public is invited to review and provide input on the City of West Point's Woodyard Trail Park through in-person or electronic comments. A Public Input Session will be held Thursday, May 9th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the Downtown River Park, 710 1st Ave. A 14 day comment period will be open from April 29, 2024 through May 13, 2024.

This project is proposed for downtown West Point adjacent to the Chattahoochee River, originating from the existing 0.2 mile loop trail and boat launch site. This project would create a half-mile riverwalk by connecting the existing 0.2 mile loop trail to a 0.3 mile concrete trail. This concrete trail will be designed to meet accessibility standards under the Americans with Disabilities Act and will include three wildlife viewing platforms outside of the pedestrian area for observation and rest. This project will also install signs along the water trail to help users locate nearby boat ramps and see distances between connection points. The goal of this project is to give residents and visitors of all ages and abilities an opportunity to enjoy the Chattahoochee River by land or water through walking, biking, rolling, or boating.

The Public Input Session on Thursday, May 9th will be held drop-in style from 4:00 to 6:00 pm; attendees can come on their own schedule and do not need to stay the entire time. Participants will have opportunities to talk to project staff, view design and site information, and share their comments.
